hi, i'm keith kurson (@keithlaugh.love). i built pollen and i believe your data belongs to you. here's how i handle it:
🚫 no tracking
i don't use any analytics, trackers, or third-party scripts. no cookies for tracking. no fingerprinting. nothing.
🗄️ temporary cache only
the database is just a cache to make feeds load fast. it's completely cleared every 24 hours. i don't store your data long-term — that's what your PDS is for.
📦 your data lives on your PDS
everything you create — posts, follows, likes — lives on your Personal Data Server (PDS), not on pollen. you own it, you control it, you can take it anywhere.
want to see exactly what's stored? log into pdsls.dev with your atmosphere account to browse and manage all your ATProto data.
for the extra nerdy: you can create your own PDS or migrate your account to one at selfhosted.social.
🔐 authentication
pollen uses ATProto OAuth to authenticate you. i never see or store your password. your session is stored in a secure, HTTP-only cookie that only identifies you to the server.
